“I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, with all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.”
Spiritual Unity
Desiring to be in full accord with the mind of the Spirit, we hold and require
the following doctrinal truths as expressed in Ephesians 4:1-7. A.One Body In this dispensation there is only one church
called “the church which is His Body”, commonly referred to as the “Body of Christ.” It is composed of all those who are united to Christ by faith
in His finished work involving His death, burial and resurrection. (1 Corinthians 12:12, 13; Ephesians 1:22-23; 3:6) B.One Spirit The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Godhead
who convicts the world of sin and regenerates, baptizes, seals, indwells,
enlightens, and empowers the saved.
(John 16:8; 1 Corinthians 12:13; Ephesians 1:13, 17-18 and 3:16; Titus 3:5)
C.One Hope The rapture of the Church will be personal, imminent,
pre-tribulational and pre-millennial.The Lord Jesus Christ will come
in the air to receive the church which is His Body unto Himself. Because of the nature of the Body of Christ, the resurrection
and rapture of the members of the Church will take place before the Great Tribulation. The resurrection of all the saved dead of other dispensations will occur
after the Tribulation at the Lord’s second coming when He
comes to establish His millennial earthly kingdom. (1 Corinthians 15:51-57; Philippians 3:20-21; Colossians 3:4;
1 Thessalonians 4:13-18; Titus 2:13; Revelation 19:11-16)
D.One Lord Jesus Christ is God eternally in equality and in essentiality. He was begotten of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, t
hus becoming true man as He was and always remains true God. He and He alone is our advocate and mediator.
(Luke 1:35; Romans 1:3-4; Philippians 2:6-9; Colossians 2:9;
1 Timothy 2:5; 1 John 2:1) E.One Faith God justifies ungodly sinners by His grace upon the
ground of the blood of Christ through the means of faith in His finished work. This complete salvation is bestowed as the free gift of God apart from the work of man. All those who are thus saved are eternally secure in Jesus Christ.
(Romans 3:24-28 and 5:1 & 9; Ephesians 2:8-9; Philippians1:6; Colossians 3:1-4) F.One Baptism We believe that the Holy Spirit places all believers today
into the Body of Christ by one spiritual baptism. This divine baptism takes place at salvation and identifies every believer
with Christ in His death, burial and resurrection. Since this one baptism promotes the unity of the Spirit, LakeviewBibleChurch does not practice water baptism,
resting in the total sufficiency of the finish work of Jesus Christ
for a complete and blameless standing before God.
(Romans 6:3-4; 1 Corinthians 1:17-18 and 12:12-13; Ephesians 4:3-6; Colossians 2:9-12) G.One God and Father of all There is one God eternally existing in three persons,
the Father, Son and Spirit, and known as the Trinity. This God is the creator, sustainer of the universe and all that is therein. (John 1:3-4; 2 Corinthians 13:14; Colossians 1:16-17; 1Timothy 2:5)
Congregational Unity
Desiring to be in full accord with the mind of the Spirit
and with teaching of God’s Word,
we hold and accept the following truths to be applicable
to the Body of Christ in this present dispensation of grace. A.The Bible The entire Bible, in its original writings, is verbally inspired of God
and is of plenary, complete authority. (2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21) B.Total Depravity All men are by nature sinners, dead in trespasses and sins and therefore,
by nature, can do nothing to please God. (Romans 3:10-12 & 23 and 8:7-8; Ephesians 2:1-3) C.Redemption God justifies ungodly sinners by His grace, upon the ground
of the Blood of Christ, through the means of faith. This complete salvation is bestowed as the free gift of God, apart from man’s works. (Romans 3:24-28, 5:1-9, and 6:23; Ephesians 2:8-9) D.Eternal Security All the saved are eternally secure in Christ. (Colossians 2:9-10 and 3:1-4; Philippians 1:6; Romans 8: 1 and 29-35, 38-39) E.Spiritual Gifts The spiritual gifts operative for the ministry of the Body of Christ
are those enumerated in Romans 12:6-8; 1 Corinthians 12:1-31; Ephesians 4:7-13. Some of these gifts were permanent in nature and
some were to pass away in accordance with 1 Corinthians 13:8-11. Spiritual gifts are the supernatural abilities that are given to every Christian
by God for serving the Body of Christ and doing the work of the ministry. F.The Lord’s Supper The communion of the Lord’s Supper as revealed through
the Apostle Paul in 1 Corinthians 11:23-26 is
for members of the Body of Christ to be observed “till he comes.” G.The Believer’s Walk By reason of Christ’s victory over sin and of His indwelling Spirit,
all of the saved may, and should, experience deliverance from
the power of sin by obedience to Romans 6:11. We deny that man’s nature of sin is ever eradicated during this life.
(Romans 6:6-14 and 8:37; 2 Corinthians 2:14; 10:2-5; Galatians 5:16-25) H.The Resurrection Jesus Christ was resurrected bodily from the dead and
at His coming will raise all the saved dead to everlasting glory,
and at the end He will raise all the lost to everlasting punishment and condemnation.
(Luke 24:39; 1 Corinthians 15:22-24; Revelation 20:11-15) I.The State of the Unsaved Dead Scripture in no way extends a hope of salvation to the unsaved dead,
but instead, reveals that they, the unsaved dead, will forever and continually exist
in a state of conscious suffering.The teaching of probation after death,
annihilation of the unsaved dead and
of the unconscious state of the dead are opposed by Lakeview Bible Church
as being thoroughly unscriptural and dangerous doctrines.
(Luke 13:23-28; John 3:36; Romans 1:21-32; 2 Corinthians 5:6-8; 12:3-4;
Ephesians 5:5; Philippians 1:23 and 3:19; Colossians 3:6;
2 Thessalonians 1:9; Revelation 14:11 and 20:14-15) J.Satan We believe in the existence of a personal, evil being called Satan,
who is living, subtle and active.He tempted our first parents in the Garden of Eden. He often appears as an angel of light.He was judged and triumphed
over by Christ through Christ’s death, resurrection, and ascension
to the right hand of God the Father.Satan’s final destination,
along with the fallen angels and all of mankind whom
he has deceived is to be punished with everlasting destruction
by being cast into the Lake of Fire. (Genesis 3:1-14; John 12:31; 2 Corinthians 11:13-15; Colossians 2:15; Hebrews 2:14-15) K.Mission The mission and commission of the Church, which is the Body of Christ,
is to follow the revelation of the truth which our Lord Jesus Christ in
glory revealed to the Apostle Paul for us.That gospel which Paul called “my gospel”
in contrast to the gospel of the circumcision (Israel) is God’s message for today. So, as Paul, we should strive to preach the gospel in the regions
beyond where Christ is not named.
(Romans 2:16, 11:13, 15:16, 15:20 and 16:25; 1 Corinthians 4:16 and 11:1;
2 Corinthians 10:16; 2 Corinthians 5:14-21; Galatians 1:6, 9, 11 and 2:2, 5:7;
Ephesians 3:1-2; Philippians 3:17, 1 Thessalonians 1:6;
1 Timothy 2:7; 2 Timothy 1:11 and 2:2 &8)
